Today Bunny Smalls ventured out to show our wares at the Miss Vintage Wedding Affair event at Battersea Arts Centre. Surrounded by wedding dresses, cakes, gorgeous flowers and table dressing ideas, it was a lovely way to spend the day!

My oh my, it’s been a while…

The last couple of months have flown by and this poor blog has been neglected. There have been a fair few things taking up my time - a lot of planning, thinking, taking time out, searching for inspiration, not to mention…

Sewing, picnics, market stalls, packing orders, visiting fabric fairs, making contacts, planning, Gantt charts, lists, holiday, day job, mood boards, courses, the Fashion & Textile Museum, camping, 1-year plan, pub crawl, sewing, old friends, strategy, Eddie Vedder, sourcing, music, dinner, festival, reading, Soundgarden, Wimbledon, Olympics, cycling, day job, sewing.

Must try harder.

Over the weeks I’ve been getting very excited about some new music - a new album from No Doubt after 10 years; the great new band Of Monsters And Men; and KOL side project, Smoke & Jackal.

Enjoy.

The colour and the shape

Bunny Smalls photoshoot moodboard - June 2011

Just as we finally launched the website, it’s time to start planning a photoshoot to showcase our new colourways for “high summer”. In contrast to what’s currently featured on bunnysmalls.com, the new pieces will be a vibrant mix of royal blue, hot pink, canary yellow and fiery orange, with clashing lace trims and ribbons.

Just as these new colours have a sense of attitude, we want our new shoot to have a certain rock ‘n’ roll swagger and who better to draw inspiration from but the one and only Juliette Lewis.

First step for planning the shoot was to create a moodboard of inspirational images and trawling the internet for photos of Juliette (and Gwen, Florence and Natasha for good measure) looking rock ‘n’ roll was easy.

So with the photographer booked, all we need is to confirm the model (pretty vital) and we’re all set to shoot next weekend. Let’s hope the results shape up to be as good as we’d hoped!

Notes from the cutting table…

Cat wears Sweet Angel Apricot braWelcome to the inside scoop from behind the scenes at Bunny Smalls. The last 12 months has been a mix of blood, sweat and tears (quite literally), as we’ve tried to get bunnysmalls.com off the ground.

A vast number of things have helped provide the motivation for the launch (in no particular order): the Rolling Stones and The Black Keys on repeat, a regular supply of red wine, a discerning house rabbit, a passion for promoting all things ‘Made in Britain’, a love of lacy lingerie, an addiction to sourcing fabulous fabrics, a marvelous web developer/gourmet sandwich-maker, the thought of giving a good friend and new mum a reason to leave the house, the Christian Dior exhibition at Somerset House, a well-received lace garter made for a friend’s wedding, Mad Men’s Betty & Don Draper, The Social Network, a somewhat competitive nature, Amelia’s Compendium of Fashion Illustration, supportive friends, enthusiastic market stall shoppers and a belief in creating something that’s been beautifully handmade - from start to finish.

From now on we will be bringing you regular updates of developments, previews of new products, backstage footage of photoshoots, as well as details of what inspires us at Bunny Smalls. We’d love to hear your comments and look forward to you joining us on our lacy lingerie adventure. xx
